FNX-INNOV Clean-up Family Day in Boucherville and Sept-Îles
On Sunday September 24, the FNX-INNOV clean-up event was held in both Boucherville and Sept-Îles. Many wanted to experience the event as a family, and it was inspiring to see young and old working hard to collect as much garbage as possible.
Participants enjoyed a perfect Sunday morning of September, with the sun shining down on the river and the weather pleasantly warm. Our teams happily collected an impressive 421 pounds of garbage at Parc des Voiles in Boucherville, and a dozen bags of garbage on the trails of Parc Holliday in Sept-Îles.
During the activity, a wide variety of waste materials were collected, including pieces of plastic, a tire, food packaging and lots and lots of nails! Thousands of nails were found in one area of Boucherville, mobilizing a small team of volunteers for much of the morning.
Meanwhile, the other participants searched every bush and small woodland for every can, every piece of plastic. One participant even got buried up to her ankles walking through the mud, but was able to recover her stuck boot. Although both areas would require several more hours of clean-up, our colleagues were pleased with the marked improvement in their areas of operation, both on the South Shore of Montreal and in Sept-Iles.
Bravo to all our participants for this fine gesture for the environment.
