FNX-INNOV, proud partner of the Americana Environmental Forum
The Americana Forum is the must-attend event for environmental specialists and was held this year from March 20 to 22 at the Palais des congrès de Montréal. It was a great 15th edition and FNX-INNOV was proud to be a partner.
In addition to the presence of several of our experts throughout the Forum, our hydrogeology specialist, Audrey Beaudoin, Department Head – Environmental Characterization and Remediation, was on hand on Monday to moderate the panel “The role of groundwater in achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goals”.
Some of the UN Sustainable Development Goals were presented as an introduction, as well as some basic hydrogeology to fuel the discussion. The UN’s picture on water is overwhelming. In 2020, 2 billion people did not have access to drinking water, the demand for water is increasing with the growth of the population and with climate change we observe a significant drop in groundwater levels. The situation is different in Quebec where we have 3% of the world’s drinking water reserves, but we must act now to have a picture of our groundwater and be able to protect our resource. These are the main recommendations of this panel that allowed us to discuss the role of groundwater, the issues and the current situation in Quebec.
Thank you to our representatives and congratulations to Audrey Beaudoin for her participation in this panel which reflects our mission to analyze, understand and find solutions that ensure sustainable development.
