FNX-INNOV Won a Major Battery Energy Storage System project
FNX-INNOV have been selected to provide full engineering services for a125MW/500MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) in Ontario. Our High Voltage experts will carry out all engineering activities in structure, foundation, electrical arrangement, SCADA and control, and project management.
A BESS is a technology that stores electrical energy in batteries for later use. These systems are essential for stabilizing the electricity grid, especially with the integration of renewable energies, such as solar or wind. They store excess energy produced during peak production and release it when demand is high or during periods of low renewable energy production. In Canada, the capacity of battery storage systems has increased significantly in recent years. Reaching a capacity of 125 MW, the project will require about 120 containers and is among the most ambitious projects announced in 2024 in Canada.
The work to be carried out under this project includes the production of drawings for the electrical installations, civil infrastructure, substation, BESS facility and underground cable system. It also includes the drafting of equipment specifications and ratings, the development of BOMs for the BESS yard and substation, the completion of studies and the provision of other engineering activities.
This project not only reflects our dedication to advancing clean energy solutions but also strengthens our position as a leader in delivering cutting-edge energy storage systems. We’re excited to collaborate with our partners and stakeholders to ensure the successful execution of this ground-breaking project.
