Field Perspective episode 9:

The Simon-Valois Meeting Zone

This is the 9th episode of our Field Perspective series, in which we unveil video capsules that illustrate the diversity and innovation of our projects. For this episode, our film crew travelled to Montreal’s Mercier-Hochelaga-Maisonneuve district to bring you images of the innovative urban design of the new Simon-Valois Meeting Zone.

The Simon-Valois Meeting Zone project called for a complete change in traffic patterns, with the aim of creating a meeting zone for pedestrians, cyclists and vehicles, all in the same place without strict demarcation of spaces dedicated to either. Carried out within the framework of a design competition, our project team was commissioned by the City to produce the plans and specifications, as well as to ensure coordination between the various stakeholders with a view to an integrated project. Our Civiliti partners were responsible for the landscape architecture and lighting architecture concepts on which the lighting of the area was based. Guillaume Lefebvre, Design Department Manager – Urban Infrastructures, explains in more detail the project, with beautiful images from our drone pilot, Steve Simard, survey technician at FNX-INNOV.
